Ingleside Board Member Robyn Stone To Receive Prestigious Honor from the Gerontological Society of America

One of the things that makes our Ingleside family of communities so special is the incredible quality and dedication of the members of our Boards of Directors. A case in point: Dr. Robyn Stone, who is vice president of research at LeadingAge and will be honored this fall with a prestigious honor from the Gerontological Society of America (GSA).

GSA, the nation’s largest interdisciplinary organization devoted to the field of aging, presents the Pollack Award each year to recognize an individual who is actively engaged in the conception and development of innovative programs that demonstrate excellence in translating research into practical application or policy. As Dr. Stone noted in an article published by LeadingAge, “Conducting applied research that improves the lives of older people and their caregivers has been my life’s work. It is gratifying to have that work recognized by the most prestigious organization in the aging field.”

“The real value of Ingleside is that it is an interesting and exciting set of communities – three very different ones that come together as one, under one roof, so to speak,” said Dr. Stone.  She notes that she is proud to serve Ingleside along with fellow board members who bring to the table a wealth of knowledge and a broad range of competencies. “The (Ingleside) boards make very good use of residents too… in a very positive way."

Prior to her role at LeadingAge, an association of 6,000 not-for-profit organizations dedicated to making America a better place to grow old, Dr. Stone held senior research and policy positions in both the U.S. government and the private sector.  She was a political appointee in the Clinton Administration, serving in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Disability, Aging and Long-term Care Policy and Assistant Secretary for Aging. Dr. Stone is also a fellow of the Gerontological Society of America and the National Academy of Social Insurance.  She was elected to the National Academy of Medicine in 2014.
