Exercise tops in keeping brains healthy
Could you lower your risk for Alzheimer’s disease by exercising regularly? Recent research suggests it’s possible.
Increasingly, lifestyle factors are being studied to see how lifestyle changes affect the brain and may contribute to preventing dementia. Many researchers think that regular exercise is the No. 1 factor in preserving brain function.

The conference was held in July 2017 in London.

Ingleside at Rock Creek diners enjoy the best local foods
In order to provide diners at Ingleside at Rock Creek with the healthiest and best-tasting meals, Executive Chef Kyle Johnson buys locally produced food whenever possible.
“You really do get a fresher product,” Johnson says. For example, when it comes to tomatoes, “they’re able to get to us in a couple days or even a day, as opposed to being shipped from somewhere else.” Using locally produced ingredients also supports sustainable practices and helps to reduce carbon emissions.

What is a continuing care retirement community?
Retirement today is a very different concept from what it was a generation or two ago. Retirement used to be thought of as a time to relax and take it easy, but now, it’s often viewed as a new beginning. Retirees are younger, healthier and sharper than ever, and retirement is about keeping busy, staying active and living life on your own terms. People are living longer than they did in your grandparents’ day—a fact that has driven huge changes in retirees’ expectations and needs.

Retirement community’s trail blazers create a natural pathway
A small creek meanders through a ravine at the back of Ingleside at Rock Creek. Although it’s only steps away from the buildings that form this unique retirement community, a resident-created trail along the little creek transports you into the heart of nature. The songs of birds accompany your stroll along the trail, and you might see a dragonfly or lacewing flit above the water or a deer peering through the trees of Rock Creek Park. A bench beside the water invites you to sit for a bit and contemplate the beauty of the setting.
