Work longer, live longer, a new study shows
More and more people 65 and better are delaying retirement. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, more than 30 percent of people 65 to 69 were still working in 2010. That same year, people 65 and older comprised 16 percent of the workforce. Those numbers are expected to grow in the coming years.
There are several reasons why older people are continuing to work. For some, it’s necessary for financial reasons. Others want to keep working because they like it.
